Booking Terms

How journeys are confirmed, what the deposit covers, and what is included in every Bwindi House Gorilla Safaris journey.

How to Start

The process begins with an enquiry. Tell us your preferred travel dates, the number of guests in your party, and broadly what you are hoping for. We will come back with questions, suggestions, and a journey framework for discussion.

There is no cost to enquire. We do not charge a planning or consultation fee. Every enquiry is handled personally.

Confirming Your Journey

Once we have agreed on an itinerary, we issue a Journey Confirmation document setting out dates, inclusions, accommodation, and the total cost. To secure your dates and begin permit applications with Uganda Wildlife Authority, we require a deposit of 30% of the total journey cost.

The deposit is non-refundable but locks your dates, your gorilla permit applications, and your lodge reservations. Nothing is held without a paid deposit.

Final Payment

Final payment is due 60 days before your departure date. We will send a final invoice approximately 75 days before departure. For journeys booked within 60 days of travel, full payment is due at the time of booking.

Gorilla permit confirmation is provided in writing before final payment is requested. You will know your permit is secured before we ask for the balance.

Passport and Visa

All guests require a valid passport with at least six months of validity beyond their planned travel dates. Most nationalities can obtain a Uganda visa on arrival or apply in advance at visas.immigration.go.ug. We confirm entry requirements for your nationality during the planning process.

Group Journeys

For private groups of four or more guests, we create bespoke itineraries with dedicated transport and guiding throughout. Group pricing varies by size and itinerary. Please enquire with your group size and preferred dates.

Gorilla permits are limited to 8 guests per family group per day. Groups larger than 8 may trek different gorilla families on the same day. We manage this at the time of permit allocation and will always advise you in advance.
