About this Destination
The Rwenzori Mountains rise along Uganda's western border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Trails climb from forest through giant heather and high moorland toward rocky, snow-covered upper slopes. The scenery changes substantially with altitude and route.
A visit need not mean a summit attempt. Lower-elevation guided hikes offer a closer look at the vegetation and mountain landscape, while multi-day routes demand more time, fitness and preparation. Rain, mud, altitude and shifting visibility can affect plans at any time of year.

Multi-Day Summit Trek
Longer guided routes ascend through changing vegetation and, for some itineraries, toward the upper snow and ice. Confirm the route, current access, acclimatisation plan, technical equipment and operator arrangements before booking.
Day Hikes from Kasese
A guided lower-mountain walk can offer a taste of the landscape without a summit itinerary. Ask which trails are open and suitable for your fitness, time and the day's weather.
