Overview
A family Uganda journey built around safe routing, correct lodge choices, flexible days, and one meaningful gorilla encounter for eligible travelers. Private, paced, and properly planned for families who want Bwindi without stress.
Private family rhythm. Your vehicle, your guide, your pace, and the ability to stop when needed. We do not put families into shared groups.
Age rules handled clearly. Gorilla trekking is 15 and above. We plan honestly around who can trek, who cannot, and what they do instead on trek day.
Rooming solved before booking. Family cottages, interconnecting rooms, triples and teen rooming are checked and confirmed before we take the deposit.
No overpacked days. Families need breathing room, so the route is built with recovery time and flexible afternoons rather than a back-to-back checklist.
One guide holds the journey. A single dedicated guide and vehicle stay with the family for all eight days, keeping the experience smooth, safe and personal.
A real conservation lesson. Children and teenagers leave understanding why mountain gorillas survive here and how tourism funds their protection.

Day by Day
Day
01/08
Protea Hotel Entebbe, family briefing
Arrive in Entebbe and meet your Bwindi House Gorilla Safaris representative. Overnight near the airport. Your curator briefs the family on the route, rooming, trekking rules, the non-trek plan, and what to expect.

Entebbe to Queen Elizabeth / Ishasha
Begin the private road journey west with family-paced stops, snacks and guide interpretation. Arrive at the safari lodge in the Queen Elizabeth or Ishasha region in time for dinner and a slow first night.

Queen Elizabeth / Ishasha sector
A flexible family safari day. Game drive, boat safari, or soft wildlife activity depending on season and lodge location. The pace stays private, with rest time built in around the children and any grandparents.

Safari region to Bwindi, Buhoma sector
Continue toward Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Arrive at Trackers Safari Lodge on the forest edge for check-in, dinner, and a private trekking briefing for eligible guests. Non-trekking family members receive their own plan for the morning.
Bwindi, Buhoma sector
Eligible guests report to the UWA briefing point for gorilla trekking. Trekking time depends on the family's overnight movement. Once located, you spend one hour with the gorillas. Non-trekking family members enjoy a separate guided activity arranged around age, comfort and interest.

Buhoma, slow and flexible
A slower day in Bwindi for everyone to reconnect. Choose from a guided forest walk, a Batwa cultural experience, a tree-planting moment, birding, a community visit, or lodge recovery time. No forced programme.

Bwindi to Lake Bunyonyi or Entebbe
Leave Bwindi slowly. Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for a lakeside afternoon, canoe outing and a calm post-forest night, or begin the slow return toward Entebbe depending on flight timing and family preference.

Highlands to Entebbe airport
Return to Entebbe with comfort stops and guide support. Your Bwindi House Gorilla Safaris team assists with onward travel and airport timing.
